Looking forward to our Tucson visit!

Starting to look forward to our visit to Tucson and Emmy’s family!  Will be the first time in several years I been back there and I look forward to getting to know all of them again.  I also enjoy seeing Tucson.  I think it is very pretty landscape.  Emmy of course feels it is pretty to visit, but she would not want to live there. Which is ok, but I enjoy the barren landscape and beautiful sunsets framed by the mountains surrounding it.  I will have to try and get a picture to post while we are out there.

We are also planning a trip down to Mexico while we are there.  We have went down to Mexico everytime we been there and always have a good time.

We are actually going here in Mexico:

We will also try to go horse back riding in the desert and check out some of the sights.  Emmy has seen them all, and I have seen a lot of them several times, but Bleys is going for the first time.  Should be a lot of fun!

Weight loss and getting in shape.

So for the last 8 months I have been working out 3 times a week for about 2 hours per session. I have gotten in much better shape, but only lost about 10 lbs really. Well, in the last week, I have changed my diet up. I gave up most carbs and went to eating a lot more veggies and meat and I have lost 10lbs in a week. Pretty impressive considering I have not lost much in the last 8 months. I am thrilled to see it and hope I can keep up with the progress!

Farrah Fawcett dies

I am in total disbelief. One of the first women that ever made me stop and go “Woah!” as a child for her stunning good looks has died. Farrah Fawcett. It is a sad day. I grew up watching her in Charlie’s Angel’s and always watched for her in any movies that she was in just because of that initial impression she made on me as a child. I was disappointed when her and Lee Majors got divorced. I mean, come on, an Angel and the Six Million Dollar Man belong together! Today, I am even more disappointed. More for the loss of a childhood memory then who she might have been today, as I did not know her. Regardless of who she was, it is a sad day when we lose one of the Angels.

To have Michael Jackson die the same day was that much more of a shock!  The King of Pop and the Queen of the 70’s Pinup going in the same day.. Kinda a rough 1-2 combo to my generation..

Ideas for Valentines Day for the Guys.

Ok, so I know Valentines Day is normally for the women in our lives. However, for any of you ladies interested in getting something for the man in your life, I thought I would link to this article I found. It is not going to be perfect all the way around for all men, but it at least gives some good clues for most of us. Of course, many guys would just as soon you forget us on Valentines Day and just remember us on March 14th! But to each their own.

I said I would post where I am at now…

I also did a bunch of other stuff today.  Played with the Medicine Ball, did several free weight stuff.  All good fun! Was a good workout!

I can not believe….

So I was very surprised recently when we received a phone call from my Grandma and Aunt Susie.  They asked Emmy if we could run down on the 24th to get my Uncle Roy.  Emmy quickly asked,”So how long is he visiting for?”  Which was answered with,”He is not visiting, he is coming to take us back to Michigan.”  I was completely shocked.  How could anyone go back to -3 degree weather when it is 70 degrees plus here?  This just does not make any sense to me.  Ah well.  I am surprised, and disappointed, but I guess it is what my grandmother wants.

UFC 92 the Ultimate 2008

I am really looking forward to this PPV!  Some excellent fights!

  • 205 lbs.: UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin (205) vs. Rashad Evans (203)

I hope for Forrest to win,  but with the way Rashad has been improving by leaps and bounds, it would not surprise me to see him win.  The cockiness of him annoys me, and has since The Ultimate Fighter Season 2, so would really enjoy seeing Forrest beat his cocky butt.

  • 265 lbs.: UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira (246) vs. Frank Mir (251)

Big Nog is pretty impressive.  I kinda expect to see him win, but would love to see Mir win.  After watching The Ultimate Fighter Season 8, Mir come off as kinda a jerk, but I think he deserves the chance to win the belt so he can actually legitimately lose it.  I always kinda felt bad with the way he won it, was doing so well, had an accident and ended up unable to defend the belt.

  • 205 lbs.: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (206) vs. Wanderlei Silva (203)

After the way Silva took Jackson in Pride, I think this will be an awesome fight.  However, with the difference in rules, I expect that things will favor Rampage much more here. So I expect Rampage to win, but would not be surprised to see the Axe Murder  take him.  That is the joy of MMA.  Anything can happen on any given night.  Considering that Silva won the last two matches, by all rights, you would expect him to win.. but nobody seems to.  The Axe Murderer is a puncher and has some mean knees.. so he can always pull off the upset.

  • 265 lbs.: Cheick Kongo (233) vs. Mustafa Al-Turk (237)

I completely expect Kongo to win this.  Being that Al-Turk has some good knockouts though, one punch can change that result.

  • 185 lbs.: C.B. Dollaway (186) vs. Mike Massenzio (184)

This could go either way.  They actually wrestled in 2003, and CB won.. A lot has happened since then, but I think CB wants to prove himself.  So I would not be surprised to see him pull off another victory.

Still going!

So here it is 3 months later, and I am still going to the Gym 3 times a week at least.  I haven’t really lost much weight, but I have started firming up a lot!  Probably if I watched what I ate, I could actually drop the weight.  I may eventually get around to changing my diet more, but first I figure I will do some time seriously exercising, which I have been doing.  I am walking about an hour per day, which equates to about 4.2 miles or so.  I end up at the gym for about 2 hours per time I go.  To long for Emmy to be interested in going from what she says, but long enough for me to actually get into shape!  I will have to fill out one of my sheets the next time I go so I can see what sort of progress I have made on weight and such. 🙂
